Job Description: Senior Content Strategist

BIO-key is looking for an experienced Senior Content Strategist who is passionate about writing, cybersecurity, and putting together a thoughtful content and thought leadership strategy to support business objectives. This role will set the strategy, leading all customer-focused and thought leadership content creation that helps to increase BIO-key’s brand awareness and credibility and drives buyers to engage and act.

This role reports directly to the VP of Product Marketing and is either fully remote or based in one of our many offices. The ideal Senior Content Strategist must work closely with marketing team members, communicating goals and providing updates effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Own the creation and implementation of BIO-key’s content marketing and thought leadership strategy, including a robust editorial calendar, development of themes/topics, and content creation
  • Work cross-functionally to synthesize business and product themes for thought leadership and content planning
  • Research, write and edit content pieces (blog posts, whitepapers, webinars, tutorials, videos, presentations, and more) that are aligned with the content strategy
  • Help advance and continue to adapt content strategies across the company, with an eye on competitors’ content, a sharp focus on target personas, and a view across multiple channels
  • Work alongside other team members to manage and successfully execute the editorial calendar, in coordination with marketing campaigns, to make sure deadlines are met and messaging is on-brand, concise, and visually appealing; recommend strategies for strengthening writing of all kinds
  • Set and achieve KPIs and performance metrics to measure and report on the value of content marketing and thought leadership activity as a driver of lead generation and brand awareness
  • Establish workflows and best practices for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content
  • Assist with other marketing projects when needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of marketing and thought leadership content development
  • Understands cybersecurity and/or Identity & Access Management, the CTO/CIO/CISO, and IT personas and have experience writing for this audience
  • Creative and analytical ability to think critically about each piece of content and holistically about how the entire plan works together
  • Exceptional storytelling skills and demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and compellingly, distilling them down to the essence of a story that resonates and delivers against business priorities.
  • An innovative thinker who understands how to integrate thought leadership content across digital and in-person platforms, partnering with subject matter experts across the organization
  • Loves to write and has experience in producing a wide variety of content
  • Excellent editor who can identify ways to improve any type of writing and provide constructive feedback to other team members
  • Superior project management and organization skills, especially the ability to monitor and manage multiple projects, editorial schedules, and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
  • An outstanding written and verbal communicator (writing samples will be required)
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, independent, and create high-quality work that delivers quantifiable results
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or related field.
